Well that Pisses me off!

Along with slowly making my way to 10,000 steps a day, I've recently started riding my bike again. Now, it's nothing fancy or new, just my mountain bike that I've had since I was at least in junior high, so it's approximately 14-15 years old. It's still in good, shiny shape though, and it does the job.

The back of my apartment building has a little covered porch (basically big enough for the door, and a person to smoke in outside of the rain. When not in use, I've had my bike parked on this little porch. Before I started using my bike (in fact, before I ever even brought my bike to my apartment building from my parents), a kid who lived in another apartment had his bike in the same place for the last year, until his family moved out a month ago. Neither of us ever locked our bikes, not that there was anything to lock them too.

At some point today, my bike was stolen. Went to work around 7:40am, came home around 9:00pm, and it was gone. A police report was filed, although I doubt anything will come of that. Reason #6535 why I hate people. Bah, shit!

Did you hear horrified screaming earlier? If you did, that was me.

I have a budget. I adhere to my budget pretty strictly. I have budgetted $60/month for electricity. I based this amount off the fact that the prior renter had a yearly average electric bill of $58/month.

I just received my electric bill.

$116.86! Jesus Christ on a cracker...almost double what I have budgetted, and right before Christmas.

Great!

These are photos that have been taking up space on my camera that I finally uploaded.

We've got a few from the courthouse where I did my jury duty, a couple of a plant, and a few from the Detroit Tigers/Seattle Mariners game and the fireworks that followed the game.

I've finally got internet and cable at my humble abode. Finally, some noise other then the radio and my mind!

Hopefully, my computer will hold up for a month or so. Before 2 days ago, my computer hadn't been turned on for almost 4 years. At this point, I'm just happy it turned on at all, and didn't have a major meltdown when forced to actually do some computing. It's funny to look at my old bookmarks. There is a whole section of bookmarks for my senior tutorial. Speaking of my tutorial, right on the desktop, I found a folder that had my tutorial in it.

If you have any recommendations for computers, please leave them in the comments. I don't and won't have wireless internet access, so while I'd love a laptop, it isn't a requirement. Help!

My apartment is starting to take shape. The only big thing I'm waiting on is a dresser for my bedroom. I'm starting to keep my eye out for art or things to hang on the walls at this point, as they are rather bare. I think once I get something up on the walls, it will look a little less institution/dorm room-ish, and more like a home.

I'm really kind of hating this whole no-internet thing. I'd like to wait another month or so before I decide what I'm going to do. I have to let my budget settle down a little bit from this month-long spending spree I've been on. Seriously, who the hell drops $1100 at Ikea? I mean, really.

Things are starting to take shape, and it's starting to look like someone actually lives there, as opposed to someone rooming there for the night. I haven't made much headway into the office/second bedroom, it is much easier to close that door, and pretend the mess doesn't exist! I'll probably start on that room this week.

I'll probably take some pictures towards the end of the week to show what it looks like full of stuff. Fun times!

I'm moved in. I hurt. Sporadic internet access at best for a while.

Soooooo much crap to put away. Who knew?

Saturday = moving day

Shoot me now.

Welcome to my new Apartment!

When you walk in, this is the view.

You can either go straight, putting you right in the middle of the kitchen...

...or you can go left, and come out into the living room.

From the living room or the kitchen, you can walk through the dining area to a hall which leads you to the bathroom...

...the small bedroom/office...

...and finally, to the master bedroom.

Looking out from the hallway, this is what the kitchen/dining area/front door looks like...

It looks rather small in pictures, but it really isn't, considering it's just me. To give some perspective, the master bedroom is something like 10"x15". I will be moving in on Saturday, which also happens to be the same day it is predicted to be 91 degrees. Oh what fun!
